Bath

Alone in the bath, kids might do something disgusting.

It was hard finding the time to chat with my friend. So when she finally caught me on the phone I took the risk of leaving the kids alone in the bath.

My best friend and I hadn’t talked or met in weeks. Even chatting after the kids were in bed was impossible. She would regularly fall asleep with her kids and my kids would only go to bed after 10 pm. Yeah, I know. It sucks.

One day she unexpectedly called me when I was undressing the girls for a bath. I decided to seize the opportunity to finally chat to her. I put my three year old daughter into the bath while her 18 month old sister stood by the bath watching. The I left the bathroom with the phone. The kids seized the opportunity, too.

Checking every couple of minutes

Of course, I was always half-listening to the sounds from the bathroom. After three minutes I checked on them for the first time. Both seemed very happy. Half of the bathroom floor was flooded. The shirt of the youngest was soaking wet and the eldest was standing in the tub. I told her to sit down and left again.

A couple of minutes later I checked for the second time. Meanwhile, the eldest had discovered the toilet brush that was standing on the washing machine next to the bath. It was standing there for safety reasons: my youngest was eager on licking the brush when it was standing on the floor by the toilet.

Mommy’s little helper

Her sister had grabbed the little bucket the brush was standing in and was pouring the water from it into the bath as I entered. I suppressed the disgust and the urge to shout and told her that it was a bad idea. I also figured that she wouldn’t die from it so I had another couple of minutes. Then I undressed her sister who was now soaking wet from head to toe and left again.

The third check-up made me finally hang up the phone. The eldest had now grabbed her shirt and was washing it in the bath „to help mommy make it clean again“. The youngest was sitting naked on the floor which was by now completely covered in water.

Still, it was a win-win situation: Both sisters were very happy. And I had had a 9 minutes call with my friend!
