What I do
I believe – no, I know – that parents need as much love and support as children.
I show them how they can talk to their kids to create a loving and peaceful family life with no tantrums or yelling.
I also show parents how they can take care of themselves – to have enough energy for the little ones who put them through hell sometimes 🙂
Who I am
Hi, I am Katerina and a couple of years ago I was really exhausted. My kids kept driving me crazy and I felt like a failure: while other mothers chatted over a latte about how their kids always behaved, I was chasing after mine wishing for bedtime to start in the early afternoon.
I discovered a new way of talking to my kids
Then I stumbled across nonviolent communication. It shows how to talk to kids by focusing on needs and feelings instead on demands and expectations. After a lot of reading and attending several courses I started telling my kids what I felt and needed. And what happened? Absolutely nothing! While other mothers chatted over a latte… and so on.
Most parenting advice weren’t helpful
It took me a year to find out what was going wrong: I needed to talk to my kids about THEIR needs and feelings! I had been talking about myself because I was so desperate for empathy. That’s also why most parenting advice had failed to help me – they focused solely on the child and forgot that parents were also living beings with limited resources. After I was able to take care of myself I could focus more on my kids.
Now I sometimes feel like a mom champion
And finally a miracle happened: Situations that had always led to tantrums started to resolve peacefully, leaving my kids feeling understood and accepted while I was relaxed and proud of the job I did. Sometimes I even feel like the best mother in the world!
I’d love to share it with you!
That’s why I share some simple but powerful tips in my online course „Master the secrets of effective communication with your kids!“. Not only children need love and empathy – parents need it, too.
Fun facts about me
- Before I had kids I assumed that just loving them would be enough...
- Well, love is definitely key. But it doesn't tell you what to do when your kids have flooded the bathroom by dumping toilet paper into the toilet. Although it stops you from dumping THEM into the toilet.
- Kids don't die from licking dust bins or drinking out of puddles. Mine have proven it to me many times.
- Whenever I have trouble falling asleep, I watch lectures about astrophysics on Youtube
My experience with nonviolent communication (NVC)
- Several years of successfully applying NVC with my kids, friends, family and at work
- I can't get enough of reading books about NVC
- The same applies to attending courses and watching videos about NVC
- I also know the limits of NVC
